We strongly recommend purchasing airline insurance to cover unexpected events such as flight delays, cancellations, and lost luggage. While some airlines, like Southwest, do not offer their own flight insurance, you can purchase this coverage through third-party providers. And as we found out the hard way, it can even help cover medical expenses while on vacation should something happen that you need to see a doctor, or worse yet, end up in the hospital.
