We’ve been going to Sandals resorts for about 20 years, and this is our first trip to Sandals Dunn’s River.

Sandals Dunn’s River (SDR) was a hit from the moment it opened in the early 90s on the site of the Arawak Hotel, but Sandals didn’t own the property.  At some point, Sandals closed SDR.  Then in 2020, they were able to purchase the resort.  Once they owned it outright, they updated and refurbished it, then reopened it in May 2023.

We’ve always wanted to stay here, so when we got our fourth free week, we looked into it and we were able to book the top room.  It’s the Coyaba Sky Villa Swim-up Rondoval Butler Suite w/ Private Pool Sanctuary (SKYV).  It’s got a “living” area on the roof with a sink, refrigerator, bathtub, and sitting areas.  And it even comes with a telescope that we can take up on the roof for stargazing. We never got around to trying the telescope, but we did spend most of our days on the roof.
