Problems with Sargassum

Sargassum is a genus of brown macroalgae (seaweed) that has been giving problems to lots of Caribbean islands and resorts. It comes from the Sargasso Sea, located here:

One resort presently having a problem with it is Sandals Royal Barbados. The beach and water are covered with Sargassum. However, Sandals is offering free daily shuttles to The Boatyard at Carlisle Bay, where the beach is pristine and the water is free of the weed. The shuttles leave Sandals at 10am and noon, with return shuttles at 3 and 4pm. When you arrive at Carlisle Bay, you receive a card worth 80 Barbadian dollars (40 USD) per couple.  Each couple also has their own 2 beach lounges, a beach umbrella, and snorkeling equipment. There are also several water activities included. Fun day at a beautiful beach and aqua blue waters. Another reason why we like Sandals!
