Sandals Renames Sandals Royal Caribbean to Sandals Caribbean Cay

The three Sandals resorts in Jamaica (Sandals South Coast, Sandals Montego Bay, and Sandals Royal Caribbean) that have been closed since Hurricane Melissa, are getting closer to re-opening. South Coast is scheduled to open on 18 November, and Montego Bay and Royal Caribbean are scheduled for 18 December. Sandals is so sure of those dates that you can even book rooms for those very first days.

Now here’s the strange part that I don’t think anyone ever really saw coming until Adam Stewart mentioned it on an update about the Sandals Select Guest program webinar. They’re renaming Sandals Royal Caribbean to Sandals Caribbean Cay. No one has really suggested a reason for the name change, but the new name is already on their website, so it seems like it’s a done deal. As far as we know, the initials for the resort will still be SRC since Sandals has never been known to change those abbreviations.

As part of the renovations to SRC, the resort is getting a new main pool, pictured above in an artist’s rendering. It does look like a very nice pool and an upgrade from what was there, but the real test will be when it’s finished and people start posting feedback.
