Well, this blog is about Club Mobay, but there are other clubs, too. Club Mobay is an airport lounge at Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It does NOT provide transportation to any resort. Transfers can either be a part of your booking with the resort, or you can hire a private transfer, but that is all separate from Club Mobay.

On arrival to MBJ, at the bottom of the ramp after exiting the plane, you’ll see a group of people standing there holding cards with people’s names on them. Find the person with your name, and they escort you to the arrival hall. From there, they assist you in using the kiosk to scan your passport and print out your receipt (assuming you filled out the immigration form before your flight). Then they take you to immigration so the agent can verify the paperwork (they don’t actually stamp passports anymore), then on to baggage claim, customs, and finally to the Sandals Lounge (assuming you’re staying at a Sandals Resort). If not staying at Sandals, Club Mobay has its own lounge where you can get food and drinks for free and hang out until your transportation is ready.

For departure, after you check in with your airline, go to the Club Mobay (aka, VIP) entrance to security and let them scan the QR code on your reservation paperwork. Then you use the special screening line for security and head off to the VIP Lounge. Once in the lounge, relax, eat, and drink; it’s all free. Keep an eye on the flight information TVs and listen for announcements for your flight, then head to your gate when it’s time.

No, this is NOT a free service, even if you are staying at Sandals. You have to purchase this, and it’s not connected to your vacation, so tipping is allowed and recommended. You can purchase arrival only, departure only, or get the bundle, which is both. Buying the bundle is the best way to go.

Now the confusing thing is that there are a couple of other references to “Club” that you may see. Sandals has 3 room categories: Lux, Club, and Butler. If you have a Club room at Sandals, it is in no way, shape, or form associated with Club Mobay.  It’s your room category, NOT the VIP Club Mobay.

Another “Club” that you may see is Club Sandals. This is a special place at a Sandals resort where you go to check into your room if you booked a Club or Butler level room.

And finally, there’s the Sandals Insiders Club. This used to be called Sandals Signature Guest, or SSG, but recently got renamed Sandals Insiders Club. It is their club for returning guests to get extra perks, merchandise, and a loyalty program. Again, nothing to do with Club Mobay.

So while all the “Clubs” may get a little confusing, Club Mobay is entirely standalone from the other clubs described above. Club Mobay is very much worth the added expense, whether to get through the lines at the airport quicker or for a place to hang out and get something to eat and drink while waiting for your flight home. But remember, it’s not connected to the other clubs and it doesn’t provide transfers between the airport and the resorts.
