There have been several improvements to the Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The most recent major improvement was the lengthening of the runway. Of course, that one is hard for the people passing through the airport to benefit from.

 But there are additional enhancements on their way that we’ll be able to appreciate. Some of the improvements are:

• Doubling security and immigration space
• Expanding the check-in and departures areas
• Adding self-service kiosks for check-in
• Expanding retail and dining options

Other, less obvious improvements include: 

• Increasing runway end safety areas
• Improvements to the taxiways
• New airport entrance road
• Adding solar power

This is all part of an $800 million, multi-year transformation. This should improve all our lives, make the airport safer, and reduce the carbon footprint of the airport.
