Make it Easy to Get a Lost Bag Back
So, we’ve watched a few episodes of a show called Lost & Found at the Airport (or something like that). If you lose a suitcase and it ends up in lost and found at the airport, they actually try to get it back to you. I know, you’ve got your name and phone number on the luggage tag attached to the bag. But the way the bags get handled, it doesn’t always stay on the bag. Heck, sometimes the handles don’t even stay attached to the bag let alone a little luggage tag. If there’s no ID on the outside of the bag, lost and found will actually open the bag and look for something that might identify its owner.
To make it easy for them, why not put a piece of paper right on top of everything in the bag so it’s the first thing they see. Print your name and cell phone number (house phone doesn’t do you any good if you’re traveling) in nice big print. They’ll see it as soon as they open the case and won’t have to root around through the rest of your stuff to find out who owns it.
Pretty simple, isn’t it? And hopefully they’ll be able to get the bag to you even if you’re on vacation.
