Sandals officially announced today that “effective August 15, Sandals Emerald Bay will close to prepare for its immediate conversion to Beaches Exuma, the fourth family-friendly Beaches Resort and the first in the Bahamas.”

This has been bouncing around the rumor mill for a while, but now it’s official.  This is a first for Sandals, to change a resort from adults only to family-friendly.

Anyone who has reservations at Sandals Emerald Bay should be looking at their alternatives and making a priority list of other resorts they’d like to change to, or move their dates, or cancel altogether.  Don’t forget to keep in mind the changes to your airline to go to another island!
