BIG News from Jamaica

As you probably know, Jamaica got hit by Hurricane Melissa last fall, and while 5 of the Sandals resorts in Jamaica reopened within about a month or two.  But 3 iconic Jamaica resorts, Sandals South Coast, Sandals Montego Bay, and Sandals Royal Caribbean, all remained closed for repairs.  In addition to the repairs needed after the hurricane, Sandals decided to use this rare opportunity to fully reimagine these 3 resorts.  Sandals is investing $200 million to transform these resorts as part of the next chapter of the Sandals 2.0 experience.

The original re-opening date for these 3 was 28 May 2026.  Well, yesterday, 28 March, Sandals sent out a notification that the 3 wouldn’t be opening on time.  The upgrades are obviously taking longer than planned.  The new re-opening dates are: 18 November 2026 for Sandals South Coast and 18 December 2026 for Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Royal Caribbean.

This investment will introduce elevated suites, beautifully redesigned pools, innovative dining concepts, refreshed public spaces, and thoughtful enhancements throughout the guest journey.  All other resorts in Jamaica continue to operate and welcome guests, including Sandals Royal Plantation, Sandals Ochi, Sandals Dunn’s River, Sandals Negril, and Beaches Negril, ensuring guests can continue to experience the beauty of Jamaica while this exciting new chapter unfolds.
