Island Spotlight – Turks and Caicos
Turks and Caicos is an archipelago of 40 low-lying coral islands in the Atlantic Ocean, a British Overseas Territory. The gateway island of Providenciales is known as Provo.
Turks and Caicos culture is a vibrant mix of African, Caribbean, British, and American influences, characterized by its warm hospitality, strong community ties, and rich traditions in music, food, and festivals like Junkanoo, with a predominantly English-speaking population that values respect, seniority, and a relaxed “island time” pace.
The only “Sandals” resort on Turks and Caicos is Beaches Turks located on Providenciales Island. Its newest Village is Treasure Beach, which just opened this month. This is in addition to the other five villages (Caribbean, Seaside, Italian, Key West, and the French) that were already part of the resort. There are 23 restaurants, 3 food trucks, and 14 bars. In addition to the 23 restaurants, there’s a new Pinta Food Hall in the Treasure Beach Village, along with a cozy cinema lounge.
